Age Friendly Run by Samitivej 2024
Good health is the best investment anybody can make for a better life. Running is a simple exercise, and individuals of any age can enhance their expertise in running. This is the concept that Samitivej Hospital has initiated in its health-based running event, focusing on safety and establishing care standards for participants of all ages with a team of medical professionals on hand throughout the course. We aim to provide an opportunity for everyone to exercise through running with the entire family, including older family members who are suited to shorter distance runs. Along the running route, various fun activities offer participants a chance to take regular breaks and enjoy themselves. The hospital is also coordinating medical personnel to run alongside participants, as well as those providing care for runners along the route. Additionally, on the day of the event, health partners will set up an area to offer advice and knowledge to improve health. Some of the proceeds from these events will be donated to ‘Samitivej’s New Life Fund.’ This fund was established to help children from underprivileged backgrounds with congenital heart disease, leukemia (thalassemia), and scoliosis gain access to the treatments they require, highlighting our philosophy of “we don't want anyone to get sick.”
Event Objectives
- To play a part in promoting stronger family relationships through a health-based running event.
- To become an example of an event that promotes healthier activities for participants to stimulate pride and encourage them to exercise. This will help them re-integrate into society while creating a circle of participants who love exercise.
- To promote the image of Samitivej Hospital under the #AgeFriendlyHospital concept, which places great importance on care for older family members, including their carers and families.
- To provide an opportunity for people with physical limitations to participate in an event that is closely monitored by Samitivej health professionals.
