C55 EVENTS has launched the Amazing Kids Triathlon Series 2019 to increase youth involvement in triathlon. In order to lower the participation threshold as much as possible we have designed
1) a triathlon race
2) a duathlon race
3) a triathlon play category
The latter offers children the opportunity to participate in a triathlon event without feeling the pressure to compete.
The purpose of the following rules is to ensure that participants in the Amazing Kids Triathlon Series complete the course safely and have a good time doing so! We believe that all children who can complete the course are winners! The rules are established for safety reasons. Race officials may disqualify or add a 30 second time penalty to those who do not comply.
AGE GROUPS: Age groups are determined by the YEAR of birth. The change of race age starts at the start of the calendar year. That means if your child is 8 years old on 1 January and he/she will become 9 years old on 1 June, the race age for the entire year will be 9 years. So, if he/she participates in the March race he/she will have to race in the 9-10 years category; not in the 6-8 years category. All entrants must be 6 years of age or older (based on the age on December 31 of the race year) but not older than 14 years of age. That means that all participants should complete the age of 6 to 14 years old by 31st December 2019 (born between 2005 and 2013).
POINTS SYSTEM: Each Age Group (AG) has its own separate race. Points can be earned in each age group/race format (with the exception of the “Triathlon Play” categories) as follows:
At the end of each race the top-3 finishers in each AG will be presented a trophy, based on the time achieved in the individual race. Kids participating in the play category will not be eligible for a trophy or points. After the final race of the series the athlete with highest number of points in each age group/race format will be crowned overall winner of the Amazing Kids Tri Series 2019.
MINIMUM NUMBER COMPETITORS: The organizer reserves the rights to cancel all rewards for any age group that has less than 5 participants.
OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE: Parents cannot assist children during any portion of the event. Trained volunteers are stationed throughout the course to lend any assistance needed to ensure participant safety and well-being.
COURSE: Each participant must complete the entire prescribed course in order to be eligible to receive age level awards. Volunteers and signage are available throughout the course to show the way, but participants bear the responsibility for being familiar with the course.
SWIM:
6.1 Proper swimming attire is required: Swimsuit/ Trisuit/ Swim Trunks/Swim shorts.
6.2 Any stroke is allowed, there is no disqualification for style or stopping. In case of a
pool-swim, children must touch each end of the pool to complete the distance. Volunteers will help the children out of the water unless the child requests otherwise.
6.3 In order to ensure safety of the children, floating devices will be allowed.
6.4 Swimming section will take place at the swimming pool
TRANSITION AREA: All equipment in the Transition Area must be placed in the designated area before a time indicated in the race schedule. During the set-up time, ONLY PARTICIPANTS will be allowed in the transition area. No bicycles or personal items may be removed from the transition area until the last participant has finished and the announcer has indicated that the transition area may be entered. Bicycles must be walked in/out of the transition area, and are to be mounted and dismounted at a designated point outside the transition area, which will be clearly indicated and manned by volunteers.
BIKE:
8.1 A helmet must be worn and chin straps secured at all times the participant is astride the bicycle. All bicycles must be in safe working order and brakes may not be altered from the original condition.
8.2 Riders must stay on the left side of the road and pass to the right of riders being overtaken and then return to the left shoulder. When passing, it is recommended to call out “on your right” to let the person in front of you know you are there. Riders must ride the full distance to the turn-around point and back. It is the parent’s responsibility to see that bikes and helmets are in good working order. There will be no bike checks on race day.
8.3 BIKE: Drafting. Riding closely behind another bike and therefore using them as a windbreak is prohibited.
RUN: Proper running attire is required: all runners must wear a top and shorts. Trisuit or Full swimsuit are also allowed. Shoes are mandatory. Run number should be placed in front. Participants must run or walk the complete running course.
SPORTSMANSHIP: Parents and kids are asked to be respectful towards all the other participants and race crew. Violation by participants or parents of any of the rules or exhibition of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification. This includes the use of profanity or rudeness before, during, or after the race towards competitors, volunteers or officials.
RACE NUMBERS: All the participants are required to wear the race bib (run), swimming cap, and body marking provided. Race numbers must be worn on the FRONT of the child at all times during the bike and run.
All the participants are required to attend the race briefing as indicated in the race schedule.
Amazing Kids organizer C55 Events reserves the right to reject any entry or issue special invitations. C55 Evens reserves the right to adjust the race entry fee.
WAIVER: By completing the online entry form parents or guardians are agreeing to all terms and conditions and the event waiver, including the check-in and refund policy.
REFUND POLICY: Entry Fees are Non-Refundable. Entries are non-transferable to another competitor, to the next race in the series or to following year’s races.
