Dark Sky Trail 2020

The Dark Sky Trail is another activity that the UTN100 team has been surveying since last year, with the aim of raising awareness in the important watershed forests of the country and will be paved for the whole story in one race in the Nan province area, to pass on to the largest race that is UTN100. Overview of the Khun Sathan National Park, there is a vast area of national forest area on the right of Southern Nan River in Na Noi District and Na Muen District, Nan Province. Most of the area is covered with various types of forest which are mixed forest, with plants that symbolize here are ferns and the animals that are symbolic of the area in which common sight is deer. The villagers in the area are mainly Hmong people who do farming surrounded by the park resulting in various traditions and cultures that still maintain the traditional way of life of the hill tribes.

And the key feature that we have presented is the viewpoint area in the park is completely dark which being able and can shoot images of the Milky Way from the observatory grounds of the park.

The Dark Sky Trail is an event that aims to raise awareness of conservation and awaken ideas for revival according to the guidelines of the "Rak Pa Nan" (“Care for Nan Forest”) project that the team has done continuously in all fields in the Nan province, such as UTN100, Altra Nanthaburi, Nan Marathon, as well as the Rak Pa Nan Mountain Run. Around Sports Asia in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Nan Office), Nan Provincial Government Office, Police, Hospital, Nan Chamber of Commerce, Nan Tourism Business Association which tries to organize the races for the community to participate as much as possible as well as to stimulate tourism during the off-season for entrepreneurs in the area.

This race is another race in the concept of creating a race to raise awareness of the environment and communities in all 7 national park areas in the area of Nan Province in the future, so runners may be confident that to participate in this race will have the most benefit and definitely received a good impression.

Registration Process

1. For the runners who would like to register in the category Dark Sky50, Dark Sky30 and Dark Sky15, when completed filling out the personal information, after that a confirmation of registration email will be sent. After that, the payment must be made within 24 hours. Once the payment has been made and the proof of payment has been sent to us, a confirmation email will be sent. The registration is considered complete.

2. For the runners who would like to register in the category Dark Sky50, Dark Sky30 and Dark Sky15, please enter the English name-surname, nationality and date of birth information correctly for your own benefit.

3. Due to the accident insurance will be made for every runner, please enter the name-surname and personal information when register correctly for your own benefit.

Race Rules

1. Participants agree to provide personal information to organizer in order to provide accident insurance to the participants at the time of the activity.

2. Participants allow the organizer to record this race through photography, film and video for distribution and publicize the activity.

3. For the runners who would like to register in the category of Dark Sky50 and Dark Sky30, must be 18 years of age or older

4. For the runners in category of Dark Sky50, Dark Sky30 and Dark Sky15, the race kit and BIB collection will be available on Saturday 20 June 2020 at 11.00 AM. – 7.00 PM. at Khun Sathan National Park Office

5. Race kit and BIB collection must be collected at a specific time. No race kit and BIB collection on the race day.

6. For the runners in category of Dark Sky50 and Dark Sky30 must be collect BIB by themselves only, by showing an ID card or passport.

In the case of assigning others to receive instead, will get only the Race Kit, BIB will not be given.

7. For the runners in category of Dark Sky15, can collect race kit and BIB by their own or assign others to collect by presenting a copy of ID card or passport and confirming the application and payment confirmation email.

8. No race kit and BIB collection in Bangkok or postal delivery.

9. All runners who participate in category of Dark Sky50, Dark Sky30 and Dark Sky15 must sign the waiver form before the race kit and BIB collection.

10. All runners who participate in category of Dark Sky50, Dark Sky30 and Dark Sky15 must be medically fit and ready for the activity, no heart disease such as ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy or diabetes, etc., can compete in the race category that registered and can take care of themselves throughout the competition period.

11. All runners who participate in category of Dark Sky50 and Dark Sky30, the mandatory gear will be checked on Saturday 20 June 2020 before the race kit BIB collection. Please prepare all mandatory gear to be ready for check.

12. Not allow followers to assist runners in the race route. Followers can assist runners only at the Checkpoints (All Checkpoints) or the points that the race organizer allow only. If any of the followers are found to support runners outside the checkpoints, supported runners will be disqualified and leave the race immediately.

13. Pacer is not allowed to help.

14. Check the BIB each time when access at checkpoint to record the result.

15. Pin or wear your BIB to clearly see on the front only.

16. If found that someone else's BIB is used to compete, that one will be disqualified and leave the race immediately.

17. All race categories starting point and finish line are at Khun Sathan National Park, Santha, Na Noi, Nan.

18. A glass will not be available during the course of the race. Runners must prepare a glass of water or a bottle of water themselves.

19. Runners are prohibited from leaving the junk during the course of the race. Please leave it in the bin or the area provided by the team. In case of found runners leave the junk outside the provided area, runners will receive a time penalty 30 minutes.

20. All runners who participate in category of Dark Sky50 and Dark Sky30 must have the required mandatory gear for the safety while in the race.

21. Due to our route is through the National Park, so all runners have to strictly follow the regulations of the National Park as follows.

• Do not take away the flowers, plants, rocks, animals and things left out of the national park.
• Pets are not allowed in the National Park.
• No fireworks, sky lanterns, firecrackers, gun shooting in national parks.
• Do not start a fire on the ground / grass for any purpose. Please start a fire on the provided area only and put out a fire when finish.
• Do not make loud noises or do any that will cause loud noise that will disturb or annoy the other tourists who want the tranquility of nature.
• Foam container is not allowed in the National Park. Please sort the waste before leave them in the bins provided by the national park.
• Do not write in any places.
• Do not bring the vehicle into the way is not provided for roaming.
• Do not bring liquor or drinks with alcohol to drink in the national park.
• Follow the instructions and the order of the officer strictly.

22. The route may be changed for runner safety which depends on the discretion of the Race Director only.

23. The race organizer provides all runners the accident insurance. Please enter the name-surname and personal information when register correctly for your own benefit. In the event of an accident during the race, the accident insurance will cover only the runners whose name and information match the registration database.

24. The race organizer reserves the right that the registration fee is non-refundable in all cases

25. The race organizer reserves the right regarding to runners would like the change or drop down the race category in all cases, except for injury cases or medical necessity by having to attach a medical certificate to confirm the illness

26. Rules and judgments of the committees are final.

Race Tee Size Changing

1. Can change the race tee size within 30 April 2020 only (all cases).
2. Race Tee Size Changing Process

• Inform the name-surname and tracking no. together with the new size of the race tee you want to change by email to darkskytrail@gmail.com
• Once the staff has completed the process, a confirmation email will be sent to you again.

Race Upsize

1. After completing the registration and payment, the race category upsize is not allowed in all cases.

Race Downsize

1. All runners can downsize the race category due to injury cases or medical necessity by having to attach a medical certificate to request the race category changing.
2. There is no refund of the difference for drop down the race category.
3. The race category drops down process

• Inform the name-surname and tracking no. together with a medical certificate by email to darkskytrail@gmail.com
• The notification of race category drops down will be made in the period from 1 February – 30 August 2020
• Once the staff has completed the process, a confirmation email will be sent to you again.

Transfer of the right

1. Transfer of the rights, all runners can transfer their rights as follows:

• Can be transfer the right for free of charge until 30 April 2020.
• Can be transfer the right from 1 – 31 Mau 2020. There will be a charge for change of 500 THB.
